Hypercompressor
Machinery: Hypercompressor Howden
Industry: Petrochemical
Country: Oman
Issue: Recurrent problems with a Howden Hypercompressor, leading to costly breakdowns and production losses. After ruling out internal issues, the client contacted APOLTEC, an expert company in the sector, to evaluate the foundation.
Solution: Our technicians quickly identified the problem: the foundation had lost its absorption capacity, causing mechanical issues for the compressor. To address this, we conducted a multi-step solution:
Foundation Consolidation: High-pressure injection of our epoxy resin Apoltec 370 (special injection) to re-consolidate the foundation, displacing oil and chemical products filtered in the concrete and extracting residues from cracks. After curing, the original resistance of the bedplate was restored.
Anchor Bolt and Foundation Renewal: Deformed and poorly maintained anchor bolts and a deteriorating foundation were replaced and renewed. Part of the original base was demolished, and the grout was renewed, all done with the compressor in situ to save time and costs.
Machine Support: Hydraulic Hypads were used to support the machine during the work, capable of handling even the heaviest machinery.
Quality Bolt Replacement: Bolts in poor condition were replaced with new, high-quality ones meeting sector standards (API).
Grout Pouring: With the bedplate cleaned and prepared, our special Apoltec 800 grout was poured to ensure perfect embedding of the machine frame.
Outcome: The machine is now fully operational, and its problems have disappeared. Our client is 100% satisfied with the project result, leading to further collaboration on additional projects.
